Anthony’s Party!

21 Feb

So last Thursday was my friend Anthony’s birthday so my other friend Kaci decided to throw him a surprise party for today. It was sooo much fun! We were acting crazy and generally not giving a crap… it was great! :) So first I have to tell you the semi-frustrating part before I get to the good part.

So this girl Mei comes to the party like an hour early and has this random girl with her. They didn’t even say hi, they just went and placed their order. Feeling nice, I went over and asked if they were here for the party. (Neither me nor Kaci knew either of them, but they had a present in their hands). So Mei says oh yeah we are, this is my plus one. When I heard that I knew Kaci would freak. So I told Kaci and she went over to introduce herself. Mei goes hey I am Mei, and this is Carissa, I am Anthony’s bestfriend. I just thought “you hear that pop? yeah that was Kaci’s last nerve with you.“ummmm… backup you met him like what? the beginning of January? We met this kid in 6th grade! So Kaci just calmly walks outside and I decide to go to so that she doesnt go Ape-shit on someone. She looks at me and goes “WHO DOES THAT?! THE INVITE DIDNT SAY PLUS ONE!!! WTF!” They didnt want to cancel their orders either, I guess they didn’t understand they were an HOUR early. whatever. They left like 3 hours before the party ended.

So here is the awesome part! After dinner we were just sitting around being our crazy selves for a while until I saw helium balloons. So I was like hey, hey guys! And we were passing around the heluim hahaha. I dont know what the helium did but since then everyone was wired! It was so much fun! Everyone was being loud and cracking jokes. We opened presents and had cake— as if we needed sugar! Gillian, Rory, and Elizabeth by far had the best helium voice. We were all sitting in a circle so it reminded me of “the circle” on That 70s Show. Everyone was having a great time but the party was coming to a close sadly. Me and Gillian decided to run outside and “fly” and act like Indians. No, we weren’t high, and no, we are not crazy. We are just 2 teenage girls with way to much sugar and caffiene in our systems for our own good! :) Tonight was definately a night to remember! I hope everyone had a great night as well!

Track, horses & a crazy ride called life

12 Feb

Ok I sincerely apoligize for me not writing in FOREVER! Things have been very crazy lately, so I have a lot to catch you up on!

First off, the track and feild season has begun (woot woot!) so i am super busy with that. I am doing long distance and I aboslutely LOVE it. The people are so amazing and welcomed me with open arms… the long distance people that is. The sprinters are not as friendly and sociable. We had a time trial last week and i got 9.05 (1 mile) which is apparently good. We had to run this time trial not only in the snow/sleet but also in the hail. Oh the joy of having hail pelting you as you are running. (<– btw i was being sarcastic). Yesterday me and my running buddies ran 3 1/2 miles which I felt fantastic doing.

We got two new horses at the barn. We got a baby grulla and a 2 year old sorrel. We were orginally planning on just the grulla but the guy had said there was this other horse that is supposed to be like really fast. And who can resist a beautiful AND fast horse? David and Robin only had enough money to get the grulla so we made a deal that we would take them both and train the sorrel for a year. Then we would sell the sorrel and buy the grulla, and amazingly, they agreed! We named the sorrel Thunderbolt and much to my dismay, the grulla…. cactus. Well at least we know she will be quite the character if her name is cactus.

Seeing as Valentines day is coming up I feel obligated to say a little something.  I am single, and honestly I couldnt give a care in the world. So for all you single people who are obsessing with having a valentine- calm down. It will not be the end of the world, life will go on until you find someone who makes YOU happy. On another note, guys if you say you are about one thing, be about it. Seriously I am tired of people saying BS. Say what you mean and mean what you say. The less lies you tell, the less you will have to remember. Oh and to all players- screw you. Ok, ok so maybe that was a little harsh and bitter but it is the truth so whatever. For all of you who do have a Valentine- happy Valentines day I hope you have a wonderful day full of love with a loved one.

So that is pretty much it for right now. I PROMISE to blog more because I have to keep you guys updated. My internet is currently being a little stupid. I know I may not have many readers but to the ones that are reading- thank you, it makes me happy to share my life with others. Have a happy valentines day and safe travels to everyone!

Much Love,

Becca

Long time, no writing

21 Jan

Hey everyone I do apoligize that I have not written for a while now. Things have just been really boring and slow here, so there was nothing new to share with you guys. The snow and ice has finally cleared and with much determination I am back to freerunning. I had just been wroking in the gym while the snow and ice melted. Let me tell you what, it is too cold for Georgia! I ablsolutly love warm weather and I am not too keen on all this cold weather. I have been on the trampoline a lot doing flips and such things to get back into the groove of things. But today, I finally went out and did some parkour! :) It was pretty much just simple stuff since I didn’t want to immediately start throwing tricks and hurt myself since I have had a break from parkour for a couple weeks.

Horse news: something I have not really talked about on my blog, lifeofbecca. The owners of the barn that we go to went out and bought to new horses, they are gorgeous. One is a sorrel, which is a reddish/orangy brown color and the other is a grulla. For those of you who do not know what a grulla is, it is a brownish/blue horse and the coat color is different depending on the lighting. They are really cool. They are not named yet because they are young, so we will be naming them soon. I will be sure to tell you guys what their names are as soon as they are picked out. The plan was to only buy one horse. David went on his own out to Alabama (that is never good haha) to pick up the grulla. The owner that he bought the grulla from was saying how he was selling this one horse that is going to be really fast (based on bloodlines, muscule tone, ect.). David can not refuse a fast horse (who can?!) so he bought the sorrel as well. I can not wait to go out there and ride them, they are going to be so much fun! Well that is all that is going on in my life currently. I will keep y’all posted! :)

SNOW DAY!

10 Jan

My snow day was AMAZING! I spent it with 3 of my very best friends- Nicole, Christine, and Francesca. We literally spent the entire day together; from 10-6! We did so much and had a lot of fun. First we decided to have a snow ball fight and we did that for a while until we couldn’t feel our hands and feet. Then we decided to have an awesome Harry Potter semi marathon (3 movies) while playing Crainum (nerdy but fun :D ). My dice throwing skills are impecable! I rolled the color we wanted every single time haha! So we figured that when we go to Vegas I will be doing the dice throwing. Staying inside was getting too boring to we took  out the skim boards and went to the top of the hill. It was kind of a failed attempt but then we tried Nicole’s driveway. Her driveway was completely covered with black ice, so that was awesome! And since the snow was our ‘cushion’ we wanted to take advantage of that. So we did ninja jumps, we chased each other around and wrestled. I guess you could call it wrestling, it was more like push each other in the snow and laugh. We then got sheets of ice and did this fencing-like thing with them. Nicole and Christine’s dad and mom came outside to take pictures of us and they are epic haha! I am so glad school was cancelled because today was the most fun I have had for a while! And wait, there’s more! School is cancelled tomorrow too, so we get to do it all over again! I can’t wait :) When Nicole puts the pictures up I will have a new post with the title “Snow day pics” and then you can see some of the stuff we did.

Much Love,

Becca

My Busted Knee

8 Jan

Just as I thought my knee was beginning to heal from all the scrapes and bruises I had recently aquired, it was not so. I love doing handstands and walking handstands for a couple reasons. One reason is because it helps me train my focus because if I stop focusing on what I am doing, I fall. Also, because they help me find my center of balance and they are really good for conditioning your arms and shoulders. I was outside around my house doing walking handstands up and down the stairs and in my driveway. I did not realize how close to the wall I had gotten and when I did,  I lost my focus. Due to my lack of focus I fell backwards and my knee rammed into the wall. Yes, the SAME knee. So now I have acquired new bruises and some pretty nasty gashes but they can be repaired. I am definitely not going to let this slow my freerunning progression. I have been out almost everyday this week and I have improved a lot. I have tried new tricks in new settings. Today, I did the cliffhanger off of a roof instead of a fence. Although I already knew how to cat vault I found some new spots. I absolutely love freerunning/parkour. It has literally changed my life. People freerun for all different reasons. To some it is a personal art, or a way to become at peace with the world. Why do I freerun? To me, it is a way of facing my fears and conquering them, also freerunning makes me feel like I am control of my life. Parkour makes me feel free, at peace, and happy. I have met and talked to some really amazing people through this lifestyle. You may ask, how did it change your life? Well I wouldn’t say I used to be an angry person, but I was not happy and I didn’t really trust people. That has all been repaired by simply seeing it on tv and putting it into action in my life. Feel free to comment why you freerun and how you were introduced to it. :)

The Poisal’s

6 Jan

Yesterday I happened to be on a website that let’s you ask other people  (friends) questions about anything and they answer. I know it is kind of stupid but I was really bored and homework wasn’t calling my name yet. It just so happens that I didn’t know who this person was on my friends list. So like any normal person I went to their profile and I looked at some of the questions that they answer. This mysterious person was one of my friends Aiden. The question that caught my eye was- what is one thing you want to master? Aiden’s response was definately parkour/freerunning. I about flipped out. There is no way I would have ever guessed that he is a freerunner as well. Today I asked him about it in class and he’s like ‘yeah it’s really fun’ and things like that. I said Aiden I do it too! You should have seen his face; it was like a kid on Christmas morning. He quickly went over to tell his twin brother, Micah, that I was a freerunner. Just like his brother, he got this excited look on his face. When I asked them what the excitement was for they were like we didn’t think anyone at this school knew how to freerun much less know what parkour is! Apparently, not only do Micah and Aiden freerun but so does their older brother (Josiah) and their cousin (Mason). Aiden is only in my homeroom but Micah is in my first class. Me and Micah spent the entire class discussing parkour- what tricks we like best, where, how often, coolest things we’ve done, things we’re considering doing, and many many many more things. I would say that was my favorite class out of the entire year. He kept saying how it was so awesome that I freerun because he only knows guy that freerun. My answer- I like guy sports, they are more fun. haha.

I went down to the park today (the one I always train at). It was really cold so I couldn’t do much but I did do some little things. I did walking handstands in the grass, climbed on a huge fence (tennis court) and made my way across it with only my hands (cliffhanger type thing), and I did a few wall flips. And yes, the kids from yesterday were down there waiting for me. They said they were sad I didn’t do more and asked if I would be there tomorrow. Not wanting to dissapoint them I said I would be if the weather wasn’t too bad. It is strange having an audience even though it is little kids because I am so used to training by myself. I also filmed myself a bit more on practicing some flips and doing the cliffhanger so that I could perfect my technique. That is pretty much all that happened in my awesome day today… it is amazing the things you learn about your friends that you would have never even guessed at.

Much Love,

Becca

New Semester & Some Freerunning

5 Jan

Hey everyone I apoligize that I have not written lately. It has just been a little chaotic lately.  The break is sadly over and I had to go back to school. Routine things bore me… a lot. So school is not so fun to me. My new schedule is the bundle (world government/ap human geography), Math, Spanish, and Band. Yes I am a band geek- shocking right? I like band though because it is the most random class I have. Everyday is different sometimes we play sometimes we tell stories and sometimes we sit there a crack jokes. This semester my schedule is a lot easier so I am not as loaded down with homework.

Like I said in my first post I have been really getting into freerunning/parkour. So i signed up for overflux.com which i s a site for all free runners in the south east and by state. A  lot of them have really helped me out. I’ve learned how to master a front flip and certain leaps and rolls. I have been going down to a park in my neighborhood where I have been practicing. I also have been doing conditioning days about once a week. A group of young(ish) boys were at the park at the time when I put down a safety mat and was perfecting some tricks. They were like “WHOA! DO THAT AGAIN!” and “HOW DO YOU DO THAT?! CAN YOU TEACH ME THAT?!” I did the tricks for them a couple times and explained why I was doing them. And they really wanted me to teach them but I’m no practitionor/teacher of parkour. So I told them maybe later when I got better because I wouldn’t want to get them hurt. It felt cool that I finally knew a little bit of parkour because I’ve wanted to learn for so long. So I thank all of you on Overflux.xom for helping me out and helping me acheive something I have always wanted to do!
